Three different types of walking holidays in Italy

walking holidays in Italy

Italy is a stunning destination which offers so much. On one hand, you have gorgeous countryside land to explore, then on the other, you have beautiful ocean views and historic city walks. No matter your reasons for visiting Italy, business or pleasure, it’s a destination that offers so much, and you’ll leave wanting to come back and explore more.

With the above in mind, you can imagine the walking routes in Italy are fantastic, with Italy having a vast range to choose from. You could do an eight-day trip around the Amalfi Coast, or around Sicily, or you could do a shorter break and explore Cinque Terre (which is stunning!). Wherever you choose, each region offers a unique perspective on this beautiful country.

To help give you some inspiration, we have put together three different routes which you could pick for your next walking holiday.  Keep on reading to discover more.

Walking on the Amalfi Coast

Book a walking trip on the Amalfi Coast and enjoy the ancient trails waiting to be explored. The Amalfi Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, loved by many and drawing visitors from around the globe with its breathtaking views and timeless charm. As you walk along its scenic paths, you’ll pass lemon groves, terraced vineyards, and dramatic cliffside villages like Positano, Ravello, and Amalfi. This walk is a nice difficulty, making it perfect for all ages and experiences.

Cinque Terre Short Break

If you’re looking for a breakaway which is shorter and requires you to take fewer days off from work, the Cinque Terre route may be of interest. Here you can travel for five days and explore 5 UNESCO World Heritage-listed towns in Italy. Expect dreamy walks among colourful coastal villages, and enjoy the exquisite cuisine in the region. If you haven’t been on a walking holiday before, this could be a good one to introduce you to hiking in Italy.

Sicily Walking Holidays

Sicily is a stunning destination which features a lot in the top magazines for being a tourist hotspot. It has everything from excellent coastal views to prehistoric caves, medieval churches and ancient villages, which is exactly what you’ll get to see if you book a walking holiday here. A walking holiday in Sicily is ideal for families, couples or solo travellers with most routes offering a moderate level of difficulty that suits a wide range of abilities. Just watch a couple of videos on YouTube around Sicily and you’ll be sold very quickly. Many influencers have visited as well, uploading plenty of content on Instagram and TikTok as another source of inspiration.

There are so many different routes to write about. We hope the above three give you an insight into the wonders Italy offers. Will you be booking a trip to one of the suggestions above?
